Painting for 6 Year Olds
Painting is one of the more enjoyable activities for 6 year old kids. The essential items needed are (1) a paint brush, (2) some washable paint colours, (3) a few large pieces of paper and (4) a painting smock or apron for the younger kids. Its a good idea to give them a few ideas such as a picture of an elephant or house, perhaps encourage them to do landscape paintings, and then congratulate them at the end by hanging up their painting on the fridge or notice board. A good tip is to sketch out a drawing for them using a pencil and allow them to paint over it to give their painting more structure. Don’t worry if they don’t finish it in one go as many of the best artists took months or even years to finish some paintings. You can show them some of the famous paintings below, but as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and some of these famous oil paintings are well over one hundred years old and may not be as appreciated by younger kids.
